Stand 4: Language learning and social media: 6 key dialogues

Language learning and social media: 6 key dialogues is a European network composed by 14 partner institutions of national, European and international reach. The aim of the network is to establish a better understanding of challenges and controversies of social media and their role in the development of language learning skills through a set of activities involving participatory debates, award-winning competitions, policy recommendations and reports, scientific publications and field studies. The unique mix of activities exploring the relationship of language learning and social media in the web 2.0 era, 14 partners of “Language learning and social media: 6 key dialogues” examine fundamental 6 dimensions with newly added 2 dimensions. Those dialogues are:

  • Language learning, social media and development of language resources
  • Language learning and teaching through social media in new EU countries: the case of Romania, Latvia and Poland
  • Language learning, social media and multilingualism
  • Language learning through social media: evolution of teaching practices

  • Social media and Interculturality in language education
  • Socializing and learning languages in web 2.0 communities

Ju youn Song, Development Interaction Cognition and Activity (DICA lab), University of Luxembourg, Luxembourg
Ju youn SONG is a researcher within a research group of Development Interaction Cognition and Activity (DICA lab). She graduated from a trilingual master program Learning and Development in Multicultural and Multilingual Contexts at the University of Luxembourg. Her research interest is on multilingual and multimodal interactions in collaborative team building and collaborative learning process in various domains, workplace, media and computer mediated learning. Ju youn is currently working as a project manager ad interim of the EU-funded network "language learning and social media: 6 key dialogues" under the LLP of the European under the LLP of the European Commission (project coordinators: Prof. Charles Max, Dr. Katerina Zourou) at the University of Luxembourg. Within this network, she is very much engaged in the topic of web 2.0 language learning communities socialization and development of language competences through multimodal interaction.
