Kate Shanahan

Kate Shanahan (B.A M.Phil ) is an award-winning Irish journalist and radio and television producer. She is also a lecturer at DIT Dublin’s School of Media where she teaches on both the taught post-graduate M.A programmes and the undergraduate journalism degree programmes, specialising in journalism practice, TV and on-line journalism. She is currently working on a national children’s news website with content supplied by journalism students. The site was shortlisted for an Eircom Golden Spiders Award (Education category) 2011, and the National Student Media awards 2012. She was awarded a DIT teaching fellowship 2011/2012 for research on Media Entrepreneurship. She has worked as a Producer, Series Producer and latterly Executive Producer for Ireland’s national Television and Radio station RTE, in both current affairs and lifestyle strands.
