The use of media in virtual schooling – findings from the VISCED project

The VISCED project, part funded by the European Commission, aims to create an inventory of virtual schools and colleges across the world, focussing particularly on Europe; to identify what makes them successful and what issues their existence raises for policy makers and teacher trainers. This presentation will explore the extent and use of media in seven European virtual schools – in Portugal, Wales, Ireland, Finland, Latvia, Sweden and the Netherlands – and one pilot school in England It will present interim results from the project, including future plans for media use in teaching and learning and suggest possibilities for further research and analysis.
