EU-HOU Hands-on Universe

The EU-HOU project ("Hands-On Universe, Europe. Bringing frontline interactive astronomy to the classroom") is a collaboration of hundreds of teachers and scientists from 14 countries with the purpose of creating a way for students to get excited by science, primarily through the use of astronomy.

This project developed hands-on exercises (available at http://www.euhou.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=4...) in lot of different languages, designed to promote an active learning by giving student real astronomical data to find a new planet, explore volcanos on the moons of Jupiter, classify stars, or weigh a galaxy. Each exercise comes complete with detailed instructions for how easily display, analyze, and interpret the data in the classroom, using the free software SalsaJ, downloadable at http://www.euhou.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=8&Itemid=10.

Michelangelo Portal

The Michelangelo project, run in 2008-2009 and funded by the European Commission in the framework of the Lifelong Learning Programme, developed an internet portal on European fine arts addressed to art teachers and students in European secondary schools who wish to acquire the knowledge of the most representative artists of the last 10 centuries in Europe. The focus is both on countries which are already well known for their artistic heritage and countries whose heritage is less known. The portal provides the opportunity to art students, teachers, artists and European citizens to discover the beautiful European artistic heritage through photographs, reviews, online courses and virtual meeting (for registered members), national workshops and a online Manual of Fine Arts.

Knowledge Pills

Knowledge Pills Methodology is a new method of education strengthening professional competences by the usage of short multimedia advises (knowledge pills). The main tool of KPM is a short instructional movie – presenting how to conduct certain activities in the work station, by reproducing day-today tasks in a appealing format.

The main aim of the Knowledge Pills project is the transfer of the Knowledge Pills Methodology (KPM) to be used by knowledge moderators in SMEs of Poland, Spain and Greece. It makes possible the efficient education of employees conducted in-company. Another goal is to conduct pilot phase of KPM use for Polish and Spanish companies, gathering feedback from knowledge moderators and SMEs participating. The project also fosters understanding of the use of the innovative learning processes and introduces learning exchange mechanisms between the project partners, beneficiaries and training institutions.

You can find a lot of examples of Pills in the Multimedia section: http://en.edupills.eu/knowledge-pills/multimedia/
A detailed PDF document about Knowledge Pills Methodology applied to Small and Medium-size Enterprises is available at the following webpage: http://en.edupills.eu/wp-content/docs/kpm_en.pdf
