INA - Institut National Audiovisuel

INA is the French national film archive. It holds over 3.5 million hours of television and radio recordings, dating back to the earliest broadcasts, with a further 800,000 hours of legally deposited material added each year.

The recurrent theme running through all of our activities and making Ina a company with an audiovisual culture is preserving, promoting and transmitting form.

Et si c'était toi?

'Et si c'était toi?' (And if it was you?) is a 4-minute film produced in 2008 by 17 to 18-year old students of the secondary school Lycée Technique du Centre in Luxembourg (http://www.ltc.lu). With the generous time and effort of students of class 3IF1 and their French teacher, this film was made largely outside of school hours, in the framework of the project 'School without violence' (Lycée Sans Violence).

This short film is about two teenage girls who fall victim to different forms of violence. The film confronts us with bullying and domestic violence and how the two girls are struggling to cope with it and its consequences such as isolation, depression and suicidal thoughts, and how they both try to find a way to get away from it.
An educational guide was produced to accompany the film, in a collaboration between the Lycée Technique du Centre and the Centre de psychogie et d'orientation scolaires (COPS - http://www.cpos.public.lu) of the National Ministry of Education and Training (http://www.men.public.lu). The guide discusses the topics of bullying and suicide and addresses both the warning signals and suggested attitudes friends and teachers can take towards a victim. Guidelines are also included, to facilitate an interactive session in the classroom or in an informal setting with a group of teenagers. The educational guide and movie were distributed together in the secondary schools of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and are used continuously.

Regards sur la Psychologie Sociale Expérimentale

Regards sur la psychologie sociale expérimentale or “Perspectives on experimental social psychology” is a series of 5 video clips each of which consists of a short film of an experiment and a presentation to explain the following topics: the fundamental attribution error, the failure to assist a person in danger, the effects of a commitment process, the effects of categorisation and the effects of social comparison. The series was created in 2007 by VIDEOSCOP Université Nancy 2, the audio-visual and multimedia research and production department of Université Nancy2, France (http://www.univ-nancy2.fr/VIDEOSCOP).

This project targets university students, and particularly those in the field of social psychology. Experiments are the basis of many fundamental concepts in the field of social psychology, and these have been conducted in strict test conditions so the majority of them are only available to social psychology students in texts on paper. This online collection contains five experiments that are reconstructed and recorded. These videos show in particular the methodology used and the subjects’ reactions, thus visualising the concepts to make them easier to understand and remember. Each of the five recorded experiments is linked to a theoretical part, explaining the experiment and creating links with the theoretical concepts that students need to know and learn.

A more detailed English description of the project is available in the Showcase on the MEDEA Awards website: http://www.medea-awards.com/showcase/regards-sur-la-psychologie-sociale-...

- Fournir des ressources pédagogiques en complément des cursus d’enseignement ;
- Accompagner les évolutions de l'université française en développant l'usage des TIC au sein de l'enseignement supérieur.

Virtual video workshop Découvrir les médias numériques : applications pédagogiques et techniques de production

This French virtual video workshop has been designed to reflect the structure, the content and the spirit of face-to-face workshops, covering both the pedagogical applications of digital media and the production techniques required to design, film, edit and deliver digital media online.

The rich media approach - combining video material, photographs, synchronised slides and downloadable supporting documents - gives participants a feel of what it is like to design and produce digital media for teaching and learning and provides them with the opportunity to complete their own practical work. The virtual workshop can be consulted and followed as autonomous study material, or can be integrated into a tutored online course.

Table of contents:

The different modules cover:

1) an introduction to the VideoAktiv project and the workshops in general
2) a panorama of examples of how digital media and video in particular can be used for teaching an learning
3) an in-depth study of the various pedagogical concepts behind the use of digital media
4) useful tips for filming, from preparing a storyboard to handling a camera
5) the basics of editing digital media
6) publishing your video online
7) practical exercises: supporting documents to help participants define and realise their project, illustrated with extracts from the face to face workshop showing participants working in groups on their own projects.
