Federica - the University of Naples web-learning portal

Federica is the web-learning portal of the University of Naples Federico II (http://www.unina.it), free and open to all, created to provide unrestricted access to academic knowledge. It has a key focus on open access, flexibility and portability, targeting university students as well as the world of continuing education. With a single access point, Federica combines a range of services ensuring four different learning experiences:

• Courseware (http://www.federica.unina.it/courseware): Federica hosts the Federico II courses, presented in the same format, through a flexible and user-friendly interface: syllabuses, lessons, research materials, images, audio and video files, as well as links to web resources. The contents are protected under Creative Commons License.
• Podstudio (http://www.federica.unina.it/podstudio): Federica’s course lessons are available also as podcast files, easy to use on latest-generation multimedia devices, to browse and read the study materials anywhere and anytime. Federico II was the first Italian University to launch an iTunes U channel.
• Living Library (http://www.federica.unina.it/livinglibrary), the Federica digital library. A gateway to electronic resources, selected and reviewed to facilitate free access to learning materials. An authoritative guide to hundreds of online libraries and archives, journals, e-books, encyclopedias, and databases aimed at improving information literacy and awareness.
• Campus 3D (http://www.federica.unina.it/campus3d): Federica is a 3D interactive environment bringing all university buildings together in a virtual square. It’s a scenographic representation that reproduces the strong analogy between the virtual and the real world. A multimedia pyramid helps students find their way through all Federica's resources for open access to higher learning.

In addition, the learning experience is accompanied by Friendly, the user-friendly version of Federica; My Class, the interaction space for students and professors; and FedericaFeeds, an updated index both for Federica’s news and for the most important worldwide newspapers. Federica’s web applications complete the framework, allowing access to Federica contents also from smartphones, iPad as well as Nintendo and Wii platforms.

• Campus 3D (http://www.federica.unina.it/campus3d): Federica è un ambiente 3D interattivo che porta tutti gli edifici universitari insieme in una piazza virtuale. Si tratta di una rappresentazione scenografica che riproduce la forte analogia tra il mondo virtuale e quello reale. Una piramide multimediale aiuta gli studenti a trovare la strada attraverso tutte le risorse di Federica per l'accesso aperto alla istruzione superiore.

TES Connect - Teaching and Video Resources

The TES Connect is a social network that allows teachers to network, share and recommend resources including videos, and search for jobs.

The TES Connect Resources includes teaching resources all created and uploaded by other teachers in the TES community for everyone to share. With separate subject channels for every type of teacher, there are all kinds of classroom materials including lesson plans, videos, PowerPoints, games, puzzles, worksheets and tutorials.

Today, with more than 2.7 million registered online users in over 276 countries and territories, it is the world’s largest online network of teachers. More than 3.6 million resources are downloaded from the TES website a week, with eight TES resources downloaded a second.

Opettaja.tv

YLE is Finland's national public service broadcasting company and Opettaja.tv is its service for teachers both on TV and on-line. YLE Teema is broadcasting Opettaja.tv for a few hours on five days of the week, offering teaching material for class work as well as to serve teachers' further education and professional development. Most Opettaja.tv TV programmes are also available online.

The web site offers a great amount of audiovisual teaching material and tools for its use in class. The web site also serves as a discussion forum for teachers and as a platform for the exchange of teaching material.

Opettaja.tv is made in cooperation with headteachers and the Finnish National Board of Education.

Archive's Moving Images library

This is the web site of the Archive's Moving Images library of free movies, films, and videos. This library contains thousands of digital movies which range from classic full-length films, to daily alternative news broadcasts, to videos of every genre uploaded by Archive users. Many of these movies are available for download.The Archive’s library of Open Educational Resources and university lectures contains hundreds of free courses, video lectures, and supplemental materials from universities in the United States and China. Many of these lectures are available for download.

Learning MATH - video lessons

Annenberg Media develops workshops and courses that provide teachers with content and pedagogical learning. Workshop and course resources consist of video, print and Web components that can be used for self-study. "Patterns, Functions, and Algebra" explores the "big ideas" in algebraic thinking, such as finding, describing, and using patterns; using functions to make predictions; understanding linearity and proportional reasoning; understanding nonlinear functions; and understanding and exploring algebraic structure. The course consists of 10 two-and-a-half hour sessions that each include video programming and activities, provided online and in a print guide. The 10th session explores ways to apply the algebraic concepts you've learned in K-8 classrooms. You should complete the sessions sequentially.
