Pascal Smet

Pascal Smet earned a degree in Law at the University Antwerp (Belgium) and joined the Socialist Party, where he became the president of the young socialists. After working for the Office of the Commissioner General for Refugees and Stateless Persons (CGRS), an independent asylum authority, he became Commissioner General in 2000. In 2003 he became State Secretary of the Brussels Capital Regional Government, dealing with responsibilities such as Transport.

After the 2004 elections, Pascal became minister of Mobility and Public Works in the Brussels Capital Regional Government. In 2009, he was again elected and became Flemish Minister for Education, Youth, Equal Opportunities and Brussels Affairs. He aims for a policy that focuses on dialogue.
