Kirsty McLaughlin

Kirsty joined the JISC Legal team early in 2010. She is an accredited CEDR mediator with experience in IPR disputes resolution, holds the solicitors’ qualification (LPC) for England and Wales, as well as a post-graduate Diploma in Law and an MA in Sociology.

Her knowledge and enthusiasm for web 2.0 and ICT law were developed at the Office of Public Sector Information (OPSI). Working as part of the national regulatory team for Crown copyright licensing, she also became involved with cross-government work on social media and business and community engagement. Her time at OPSI included secondment to the Chief Executives’ team at The National Archives.

Kirsty has also been an advocacy worker in the charity sector with acute experience of freedom of information, data protection and human rights. She has worked for the NHS in risk management and a NDPB of the Department of Children, Schools and Families. Voluntary work has included supporting young people under arrest and company secretary for a civil rights charity.
