Theo Kuechel

Theo graduated at Hornsey College of Art, and taught Art & Design, ICT and Media in K12 schools. Theo’s current work is divided between his role as researcher/consultant at the University of Hull, and an independent consultant for digital media and technologies for learning.

Working with Kevin Burden, Director Postgraduate PD, at the University of Hull, Theo is involved in a number of international projects, developing e-Content and digital media. These include Edutube Plus, a multilingual video library being implemented as a pilot in schools across Europe, plus an international collaborative media project involving schools in US, Sweden, China and the UK. Theo also worked with Kevin on the ITN Newsfilm Online archive and the JISC Digitisation Project; supporting HE and FE in adopting these resources for teaching and learning.

Theo has written teachers PD courses for Naace, (UK Advisers in ICT), covering Finding Digital resources, Digital Media, Visual Learning, Copyright and e-Safety. Theo believes OER and Creative Commons media offer educators unique opportunities for developing innovative teaching and learning models.

Theo’s recent presentations include, EdMedia, Alt-C, Diverse and a workshop on eTextbooks at the 7th Pan Hellenic ICT Conference, Greece, (Sept 2010). Theo was invited, to contribute as an international expert in eContent, to a strategic think tank for ictQATAR in Doha (Nov 2010).
